It's parental kidnapping season

THE number of single parents kidnapping their own children is on the rise with hardline community groups advising fathers that government agencies are slow to act over Christmas.

The holiday season sees a sharp rise in the number of parental abductions in Australia. With emotions running high between separated and divorced parents during the Christmas/New Year period, a small number of parents will take the drastic step of abducting their own children. Most of these children are eventually recovered, but a small number of parents will experience the agony of never seeing their children again.

For those wishing to know how Hug-Ur-Kids Organisation came about, this organisation was built on personal experience dealing with Parental Child Abduction.

HUKO was founded in 2000, and since then we have gone from strength to strength, helping literally thousands of parents with both legal and emotionally support, we have an abundance of information pertaining to child abduction, and some very close legal eagles who lend us a hand from time to time.

If you wish to contact us on child abduction statistics, awareness programs, International cases or enquiries, Media Commentary or Advertising or any other relevant enquiry, you can do so by sending us an e-mail, sending a letter, or phoning us, we make ourselves available to the public, be it domestic or Internationally 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

NB: In the past media have sourced much of their material for articles from this site, we ask if your affiliated to any type of media and you use material from here, please all you need do is send a request, we have no problems with that, if you do publish material all we ask is make it public where the source of the material was obtained from.

Thank you.

Below are some common questions we get asked:

I have noticed your figure on parental child abduction in Australia are different than reported in different media, why is that.?

Child Abduction figures in Australia are constantly in a state of flux, one of these reasons is that the Australian government do not keep accurate or precise figures, whether it be local abductions or International abductions, however the government do keep tabs on Hague cases only, an important factor why media in Australia never get the full story is that they rely on Australian Government figures, however this can and has always been mis-leading to the general public, so next time you hear figures bandied around, ask yourself how accurate is the information your being told.?

Is Parental Child Abduction a criminal offence in Australia.?

In short, NO. It is only an offence against the Family Law Act, and for that reason it holds little weight with police and other law enforcement officials, no next time you hear someone say they went to the police to report a child abduction by a partner - your response will be "it is a civil matter, go get a lawyer"

FOOTNOTE: Our legal system in many states still does not recognise the importance of acting swiftly and promptly in parental child abductions, nor do they recognise the damage being done to these little minds as time grows in abduction cases.

But yet, if a child was nabbed off the streets by a complete stranger today, by this evenings news that childs picture would be plastered across every news bulletin, newspaper and other media outlet, and if apprehended the culprit would be charged with so many offences, the question is so why do Parentally Abducted Children not get the same right.?

I'm dealing with a really nasty custodial case involving my children, can HUKO help on this level.?

No, we are sorry but handling abduction cases already puts a great deal of pressure on our low resources.

Is it FREE to get help from HUKO.?

Some of our services you will find free of charge here on the site, others there is a small fee that will engage for 30 days, this small fee keeps our doors open and phones operating, because we are a Non Profit Organisation all funds go to keeping HUKO operating, no one benefits financially at HUKO from your support.

My child has been abducted Internationally, to a Non Hague country, is there anything i can do.?

Yes there are always plenty of things you can do, the important factor is acting quickly, many parents do not realise that as soon as a child is abducted, especially overseas a silent ticking enemy is awakened called "HABITUAL RESIDENCE", so by all means please contact us to see how we can help you immediately, we do NOT give up on parents, unlike our loyal government who if you are dealing with a Non Hague case they simple shun you.

I've dealt with all the legalities, i'm in a position to engage a Recovery Agent or Team, can you help me.?

Yes, we can help you, but like all cases it is best to contact us directly for a confidential assessment.
